1. Atheism: A Rough History Of Disbelief By Jonathan Miller
Link: https://www.openculture.com/2012/01/atheism_a_rough_history_of_disbelief.html
Atheism is a topic very few people are well versed with. For a person who follows the notion of atheism this documentary is a very interesting point of view. Jonathan Miller beautifully explains this concept and breaks certain stereotypes around it. He explains the true meaning behind a belief while conducting his own research to understand the concept of atheism. The documentary also unravels the concept of belief and disbelief throughout history. It talks about certain rules and requirements of religion; from following only one entity, failing which will give you an eternity of pain to the idea of afterlife. This brings me to a saying by Epicurus, a Greek philosopher, that really stuck by me:
"Why should I fear death?
if I am, then death is not.
if death is, then I am not.
why should I fear that
which can only exist when I do not?"
I believe that religion is a choice and nobody should be forced to follow something they don't believe in, just out of fear. Faith and religion is a beautiful concept until they start violating basic human rights. As humans it should be a natural tendency to be giving towards our own kind and respecting each individual for their choices.

2. The Social Dilemma
Watch On Netflix

I feel this documentary was an eye opener specially for a young generation like ours. We are always stuck to our devices, letting social media take over our real world. Everything that we do is a show for our social media accounts. This documentary specifically focused on the negative impact these platforms have on us and our health; physically as well as mentally. It gave us an insights on how these platforms work and make money out of our attention and engagement. I personally feel everything has a positive and negative side to it however, things only get out of hand when people start working in extremes. I really liked that they gave us few pointers to keep in mind to avoid obsession over any social media platform at the end of the movie.
They also have a website where people who have similar views can start talking about it which I think it is a great way to raise awareness about this situation and get together like minded individuals.

3. Minimalism: A Documentary About Things That Matter
Watch On Netflix

This was a beautiful documentary about a less spoken subject; Minimalism. The documentary revolved around how the set idea of successes is a 6 figured salary or the amount of things one owns, however these might not be the ultimate source of happiness for an individual. Minimalism focuses on simplistic living with things that truly hold importance and value. It was interesting to see how there are various aspects to minimalism depending on every individuals situations. One common ground that both, the concept of minimalism and I, follow is the ultimate goal of happiness in life which does not come through material gain, that being said it isn't necessary that every individual holds similar thoughts. Overall I enjoyed this documentary and it did give a totally different perspective on life.
