Part I

Note to Future Self

Design according to me is a pathway of creative solution which we have the tools to manipulate, according to our needs. I would like to be a considerate designer in the near future. I would want to create smart designs which cater to the need of the masses rather than wants. Design should be looked at like a anecdote to a problem, while taking up design activities one should keep in mind the functionality and usability of the product. An important aspect would be to keep it user friendly for the consumers and cost efficient so that its available to the masses. Designers have a responsibility to be true to their consumers and get ease into their lives keeping in mind both the positive as well as its negative effects. Similarly the stakeholders should play the role of making the designer think of these aspects from their point of view.

PART II

Reflecting on Team Work

Reflecting on Application of Visual Tools & Techniques

Most learnings from Term 1 was used in this project, from Brainstorming to 5W1H each tool came to use during this project. Not only did we understand our object but various factors revolving it through various research methods. To put our ideas on paper visual tools were used to communicate our ideas. I personally feel 5W1H was the most helpful as it gave a holistic understanding of our product as well as all the factors influencing it. sketches gave us a better understanding of the ergonomics of an object as well as its functionality.(Cut down shorter)

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY METHOD OF INQUIRY

PRIMARY METHOD OF INQUIRY

  1. This is the kind of inquiry where there is a personal interaction with the user, the information gained is therefore their own opinion.

  2. This form of inquiry should be used when conducting a small scale survey .

  3. This form of inquiry can also be used for personal surveys or institutional surveys.

SECONDARY METHOD OF INQUIRY

  1. This kind of inquiry is based on data collected by a source and not you, personally. It can be that persons opinion on the topic and might not be the opinion of the person who was interviewed.

  2. This form of inquiry can be used while conducting an inquiry on a large scale which requires data collection within a larger group.

  3. This form of inquiry can also be used to understand a general view of a product.
